The first Transition Bath eco film festival of 2010 was so successful that we are running another. This is a chance to catch up on films you missed and see some new ones.
This time the films will be shown at the Dolphin Inn, Locksbrook Road BA1 3EN (by the lock and bridge to Twerton in Lower Weston). Films start at 7:30pm – come in time to buy a drink first.
Tuesday 27th April Age of Stupid Passionate, urgent and punchy, a rough-and-ready film on the most important problem we now face. Pete Postlethwaite plays the last guy alive looking at archive material that shows how we ignored the environmental warning signs and wonders how we could have been so stupid. Well worth showing again!! 90 minutes (12A)
Tuesday 4th May In Transition The first detailed film about the Transition movement filmed by those who are making it happen on the ground. The Transition movement is about communities around the world responding to peak oil and climate change and setting about rebuilding their local economies and communities. It is positive, solutions-focused and fun. NEW 50 minutes
Tuesday 11th May Garbage Warrior A fascinating and wonderful glimpse of alternative living styles which points an accusing finger at the inactivity of our sleeping global masters. The film focuses on the life and work of Michael Reynolds (who developed the concept of the Earthship) and homes built using waste materials, most famously old car tyres. It is also a study in the power of hard work, supportive communities and the power of applied common sense. NEW 84 minutes
Tuesday 18th May The Garden About the South Central Farmers, a group of dirt-poor Los Angelenos who took a track of urban ruin and turned it into an Eden – only to see the flora they so lovingly planted and tended bulldozed away. This film is about their dignity, determination and fight to preserve their garden – and what they've done to recover from its loss. NEW 80 minutes
Tuesday 25th May Robert Newman's History of Oil 'Anarchic, insightful, very funny.' A one-man show of stand-up and sketches on the history of oil, politics and war from WW1 to the Invasion of Iraq 2003. All lit by pedal power of course! Well worth showing again! 45 minutes
