"Our aim in the Energy Group is to help establish a more sustainable use and supply of energy in and around Bath, to minimise our contribution to climate change and improve our local resilience in the face of peak oil.
There is so much we can do as a community, from eco-refurbishment of our homes and buildings, to encouraging more sustainable construction of our new buildings, to generating our own energy from renewable and low carbon sources. This will mean working with individuals, community groups, businesses, policy makers and other organisations in Bath, to help turn vision into practical reality.
Come and join our dynamic group of interested individuals and see how you can get involved!"
- Peter Andrews, Energy Group Convenor
PLEASE NOTE: We have suspended our monthly meetings for now, while we plan and work on outreach events. If you'd like to talk to us us about your ideas for Energy Group activities, please email Jan at firstname.lastname@example.org .
Themes we are focused on this year include:
Bath Green Homes
The second Open Homes weekend will happen on 13th and 14th April 2013 to showcase inspiring examples of energy saving homes together with a series of associated events, activities and workshops throughout the Spring. Find out more here. If you would like to offer sponsorship or become a volunteer please contact Cathy Hough on email@example.com or 07810 436181.
We are looking at creative ways we could work as a community to improve the performance of our school buildings, to cut carbon and boost schools' funds. Find out more here. Share with us your ideas and experiences at your local school! (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Renewable energy generation
We are supporting Bath & West Community Energy to identify opportunities for renewable energy generation in the Bath area which can be financed through community investment - check out BCE's website and get involved. Would you like to invest, or do you have a community building or land area suitable for renewables? BCE is the first big success to grow out of Transition Bath's Energy Group and is a wonderful example of what we can achieve together as a community.
We have also produced a simple-to-follow set of ideas which anyone can use to help meet our aims. Click here to download our make a difference guide .
